For all Amiga users who suffer regular crash problems with Tales of Tamar:
During my 9 months playing Tales of Tamar I suffered many crashes and hang ups from the program, mostly when starting it from workbench and particularly if I had run other programs before it.
It got to a point where I was needing to start ToT, crash and reboot 20+ times before obtaining any success - which clearly is not useable.
Anyway, through much experimentation I found that if I took Posiedon offline BEFORE starting Tales of Tamar it worked MUCH more relaibly. I own an A1200 with a MediatorSX and the SpiderII USB2.0 card.
I was talking to Tamarian last night because he was complaining to me about similar crashing problems with the ToT client. It turns out he also runs a SpiderII - so I passed on my advice to him. He has since tried taking Posiedon offline before starting ToT and he tells me that it is MUCH more reliable now!!!
I thought I'd post this here to save other Poseidon/spider users a lot of frustration - and also I'm sure Wolfen would be interested to hear from other Posiedon/Spider users out there. Do you suffer consistent crashes with ToT?? If so, try taking Posiedon offline first and let us know if it improves matters at all!
It DEFINATELY improved the stability of ToT for me, and Tamarian says it has done the same for him - but I do wonder how other Posiedon/Spider users are getting on with ToT and whether they suffer similar problems or not? I'm not sure if it's something particular to Poseidon AND the Spider or if it's just Posiedon itself that the problem occurs with. If the latter then I would expect more people than just Tamarian and I to be having problems?? Feedback appreciated.
Thanks everyone

Well i dont need to do it that often, but it also often crashes on startup. It got to a point where I was needing to start ToT, crash and reboot 20+ times before obtaining any success - which clearly is not useable.
Dont know if its true, but since i play it with english catalog, it didnt crash on startup until then.
Btw, is there a way were i can tweak the client to use the german catalog, even when i am running the system in english?
That would help me not to change the language everytime i want to play tot.
Thanks
