Hallo zusammen,
http://www.tamar.net/chat/
Bekannte Probleme:

I have programmed the game to include an alternative to the IRC chat. So far we have the following advantages:
- Simple and fast HTML user interface (usable without a plugin)
- It is immediately recognizable which language(s) a player speaks
- ToT-angels are immediately recognizable
- Bots can run at any time (for example, the host)
- Simpler syntax for us developers (positive for the in-game chat, and another idea)
You can visit the chat via the following link:
http://www.tamar.net/chat/
Known issues:
- Private conversations are not yet available
- The text-chat can not be scrolled to the top
- Some characters are not displayed correctly
- Internet Explorer: change of status leads to timeout / logout
The host reacts to the text "Host the map" [Note by Biffordicus - what does this mean??]
All other functions are not listed.

Greetings.
Some feedback and bugs for you from various browsers and systems:
Amiga - Pegasos II and MorphOS.
OWB (Odyssey Web Browser) 1.14
Fancy brown border with green internal area takes up the whole browser window. Log in section in center of window. Language boxes show a black cross on dark brown so not easy to see.
When logged in three sections appear as you'd expect (conversation - top left and most of window; text input - along bottom as a small area; name list - down right-hand side)
Every five seconds the User List Panel refreshes with the entire section flashing white before reloading the graphics and list.
Every three seconds or so - but often with gaps where it does not do this - the same visible refresh consisting of a white flash happens to the main text area also.
IBrowse 2.4
Fancy brown border with green internal area takes up only the very top section of the browser window. Log in section in center of window but touching the top border. Language boxes show as white boxes with black tick so easy to see.
When logged in the background is all grey for several seconds. The main conversation area is NOT THERE. It shows the following within a long thin box with the fancy border around it : "lhr Browser kann keider keine eingebetteten Frames anzeigen. SELFHTML". Selfhtml is a link. Click the link and the chat area appears top left but without the fancy brown frame. The text input area is along the bottom as a small area and the name list is down right-hand side both as normal. This is with Frames Enabled. With Frames Disabled you can log in but are presented with a grey browser window and nothing else.
Every five seconds the User List Panel refreshes with the entire section flashing white before reloading the graphics and list ( twice as quick to refresh as OWB!)
Every three seconds or so - but often with gaps where it does not do this - the same visible refresh consisting of a white flash happens to the main text area also (also quicker than OWB).
Sputnik 2.0
After much flashing the green background shows, the fancy frame down the left hand side shows and along the top. Nothing else "appears" to be visible - however if I use SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW for several seconds the log-in box appears....the frame obviously has a drastically huge width!
Click the English language box, which appears white with a black tick (so visible) and the window flashes numerous times.
Log in and the same width error persists here. The chat window appears in the top 2/3s the window but is at least 3 times the width of the browser. The text-input area is the same and the actual boxes for text input are center justified and therefore you have to scroll right to see them. The user-list is fine, just way over there to the right-hand side!
Sputnik too flashes a refresh every few seconds for the user list, but this time also the text input area and the main conversation area. The username list flashes 5 times for each refresh however, not just once. The text input area flashes twice for each refresh and the conversation area flashes once.
PC running Windows 7.
Firefox 6.0.2
Log in screen appears just fine. Centered in window. Language boxes are white with black ticks so view fine.
All three sections appear where they should with no visible problems.
No refresh flashes (this has changed since I re-joined Tamar! It flashed at me when I first tried it!
)
Google Chrome 13.0.782.220
Log in screen appears just fine. Centered in window. Language boxes are white with black ticks so view fine.
All three sections appear where they should with no visible problems.
Initially no refresh flashes. However when a post is made then the User list flashes as it refreshes. It only flashes when *I* post something - not when another user posts.
Also, after a short while the conversation window also starts to flash as it redraws.
Internet Explorer 9.0.2
Log in screen appears just fine. Centered in window. Language boxes are white with black ticks so view fine.
All three sections appear where they should with no visible problems.
Conversation area flashes white with a refresh every 2.5 seconds and the user list area flashes white with a refresh every 6 seconds. When I write something and press enter the conversation does a prolonged white flash then reloads. Then no more refreshes occur until i once again say something. Someone else posting does not cause a flash.
Well, there you go. That should give you pause for thought.
To be honest Sputnik is not used all that much, so I wouldn't overly concern yourself with that one - but the general refresh flashes are definatly a pain!!!
