Scout actions
Hi,
There is many actions availble from the scout when we right click. They are not documented in the manual (except for move). Can I get a description of the purpose and how to use them (trade, offer, accept, duel) ?
Thanks in advance,

The manual is in need of an update here, although "offer" and "accept" are covered under section 4.4.4 (Transferring land).
Trade will let you trade with NPCs (namely Elves), but AFAIK this is not fully implemented yet. With "duel", you can challenge another scout for a duel. The loser will be removed from the map. This is the only way to dispose of enemy scouts.

Thanks for your help Taurik,
But I must tell you that in my english version of the manual section 4.4.4 is titled "Battles" and there is nothing about tranfering land. This is "1. Edition, Revision 5 (5th August 2002)". May be you were refering of another version that is not available in english (Windows for me).
Anyway I think there is not much more to say since it seems to be simple, I will find out soon because I'm going to experiment it with a good neighbor.
Kind regards,

I assume you are refering to the printed manual? There have been numerous additions since the manual was printed. You can find two files here: http://www.tamar.net/e_docs.html
The first one is the updated (complete) manual, the second is an addon with only the new sections, formatted for printing and folding into a brochure.

Thanks a lot for the information,
I don't understand how got a 2002 edition while a 2004 was available. My first download was in may 2005. Is it possible that this older version came by mistake with the Windows version (shareware for me) ? This newer version will certainly answer many questions.
I cannot read the Addon Manual. My acrobat reader (version 5.0.5) gives an error while openning it (file dammaged). I downloaded it twice and I still get the same message. Version 5.0.5 is the latest version I can get for Windows 98.
Kind regards,

The addon as well as the main manual are PDF 1.4, which should work in Acrobat 5 and up. Please check that your filesize matches (1.6 MB (1.629.127 bytes)).
The installer for Windows actually includes the old PDF, as I just found out. We will change that as soon as possible. Thanks for pointing that out.

Addon now received ok
Hi Taurik,
I had a file with an extra 5k bytes, I wonder why. I downloaded it again a few minutes ago and now I got the same size you said and I can now read it well.
Just for your curiousity I looked at the content of the "corrupted" file (with a text editor) and found some extra text at the beginning (must be garbage) in comparaison to the one that works well. I quote you these few lines:
I appreciated your help very much, thank you,

The text following after looked exactly the same. Did someone corrected the file today or may be a problem happened on your server when I downloaded the file (twice in a row).1000

I think your browser is to blame here. What you see is the normal http header that is sent with every file you download off a webserver. Your browser should know not to save that part into the downloaded file however. I think it's unlikely the server is to blame, but if it should happen again, please let me know, including your browser and browser version.
