Introducing Lord Conrad, and Harvest advice!

Greetings Lords and Ladies,

Allow me first to introduce myself. I am Lord Conrad, desendant of the great Lord Matador. I'm originally from Yggdrasil but I moved away with Lord Matador when he gave up his lands to go in search of pastures new. He has since retired and I have inherited rule over his realm. Most of Matador's followers have long since gone their seperate ways, but those of us who remained have now established a small settlement in a remote part of Tamar where we have lived for just over a year.

This season I have experienced some problems managing my harvest, and I would like to call upon some advice from more experienced rulers who may be able to point out the error of my ways.
While Lord Matador was in charge of our realm, I became very familiar with the process of harvest and am able to manage feeding for the entire year as well as seeding in the spring season. I am however very new to the idea of allocating workers in my realm specific tasks on specific areas of land, so if anybody can offer me some advice in this area I would very much appreciate it.
At the moment I do not have the luxury of acres and acres of land, so I am limited as to the production I can expect from my realm. The land I currently own does not have any real woodland or mountainous area so as far as I understand it would be pointless for me to allocate workers to the gathering of stone or wood. With this in mind I have allocated all available workers to harvest, in the hope that I may improve the production of corn from my realm. I do not yet fully understand the information my advisers provide me on the resources of each acre of land, so I wisely allocated an equal amount of workers to each acre of land, all with the same job of harvesting.

Would it be possible for me to call upon the advice of a wise Lord or Lady who would be willing to offer a new ruler such as myself some pointers which would help me better manage my realm's resources? My harvest this year has been an absolute disaster, and word is spreading that we have somehow been cursed by the Gods. There will be much starvation throughout my realm this year, and I am set to lose a significant amount of people. I would appreciate any advice that a friendly Lord or Lady could offer.
