Greetings,

it is now exactly 5 years since I was exiled here.

Some things have changed.
And some of course have not.

Although the population has incresed over tenfold, they are still pretty addlebrained.

The village looks a bit better with the smithy and we also have some ramshackle barracks for our armies.

Yes, that was the major change, we now have armies. Although they are unarmed, they still were able to enlarge our realm.

We also met some neighbours. We found the main cities of 2 and the borders of 2 more.

One of our neighbours, of whom we only see the borders, has threatened us with war every step of the way. He doesn´t like us annexing the land close to his borders, because he want´s to annex it himself. So, he is saying that he want´s to annex the land close to our borders

I hope we can employ more scouts in the future, because our only scout is so far away, it would take him four years to get back. But it looks that it will take several more years until we can employ those scouts...
Until then, we have to scout the surrounding lands with armies and of course annex the free land while we are at it.

Ah, yes, one more thing. This land, or at least what we discovered, is either flat or wooded. We haven´t found a single mountain.
Let´s just hope that there will be no flood in the future...

So, Sir Edmund, what you are saying is that you have found yourself living in the middle of a dried up swamp with a few shrubs and bushes masquerading as woods. Your people are a bunch of straw-chewing yokels who look up to the village idiot for his unequalled wisdom, and your neighbour is having a temper tantrum because your unarmed soldiers annexed some unoccupied land before his own unarmed peasantry was able to do so.

Sounds idyllic.

Greetings Garibaldi,

basically, you are right. You only forgot the chronic illnesses from drinking the little ex-swamp water that is available and the funny effects of the swampgas.

Oh, yes. And of course the constant echoing in our treasure vault...

You can´t imagine how utterly stupid some of the peasants are. We have a major road into this town, where the express couriers and other carriages come and go.
Lots of accidents happen there when some zanies step onto that road.

So I had sign errected to warn the population.

Was a major waste of money since nobody could read...

Then we had a safety demonstration. We picked one of the onlookers from the croud and told him to look right and left before crossing the road.
So, he looked right and left, stepped on the road - right - in front of an incomming carriage heavily laden with wood beams. The guy at the reins tried to stop the horses but those were spooked by the man who just stepped on the road. The horses went in different directions and the carriage was to heavy and fast to stop, so it overturned and the beams flew off, killing several bystanders.

The next time, we said "If you want to cross the road, then look right and left too see if something is comming and if something is comming, then don´t step on the road"

We will see if that works. If not, then we tell our carriage-drivers and horseman not to stop or swerve if somebody crosses their path. Much less damage this way...

But apart from that, everything is just dandy.

Evening Sir Edmund,

I really like your view on things. Refreshingly direct. Please tell us more when something happens.

As to your population: Now you see what decades of inbreeding will do

Regards,
Lucksi
