Tutorial Part 8/8
Hello dear player,
let me now tell you about the Trial mode. Playing in Trial
mode means that you get to play for free for a certain amount of time.
How long this will last depends on how quickly you develop into a
successful player with an expanding realm. The free time can last
between 4 weeks and several months.
After that, a fee of 0 to 8 Euros per month applies. How much exactly
depends on how you play and how many credits you buy in one go. If
you buy many credits at once, the price per credit gets cheaper, so
the per-month price varies.
But there are more possibilities to receive credits!
One of them is the vassal system. Tamar has a pretty complex feudal
system that lets you climb in ranks from a mere Lord to a Baron, a
Count, Viscount, Duke, King up to Emperor. The higher your rank, the
higher the bonus of free credits you receive every month. An emperor
plays completely for free. Of course you will need thirty actual
players as vassals. A goal that is not quite easy to achieve. But it
can be done. Since King Arbanor, so far there have been Skar, Guother
and Taurik The Unwilling who carried the title of Emperor.
You can also keep a home page about your realm. Be creative and
informative so other players can find out about your realm. Once a
year, we will awards free credits for that.
If you have spare time, you can help to test the game and find bugs.
For that, you can play for free. You will need to participate actively
though, since inactive testers will fall back into Trial mode.
All in all, money is not a much of a pain in playing Tales of Tamar
as you might think. We can find a solution for everyone. If you can
even imagine working with the developer team, go ahead and contact
Wolfen@tamar.net. He is half-god and creator of my world. If you can
make yourself useful, I'm sure we can find some way to accommodate
you.
While we are talking of half-gods: There are some Angels on Tamar who
will always try to help you with problems you might have. Currently,
these are Godefroy and Lipsius. They can be found either in the tavern
or the sacred halls (the forum).
Don't forget to visit www.tamar.net and look up the FAQ and the
manual before. Also check the forum if your question has been asked
before. This will help to keep the Angels from answering the same
questions over and over again, leaving them more time to deal with
actual issues.
This concludes our tutorial.
I hope to have helped you a little to get on your feet. You will find
out everything else on your own. Just remember: The more you live your
role, the more the other players will live their roles too. You will
find a kind of role-playing not many other games have achieved. And a
great side-effect:
You will find new friends!
Best wishes and farewell,
The sage
