Tutorial Part 7/8
Hello dear player,
today I want to tell you about the races of Tamar.
Since ancient times, there are the races of elves, dwarves and orcs.
Of the three old races, only the orcs are really evil. They live
underground and mostly in the mountains. If you see one, try to be
silent and click him on the map. Maybe you will hear their drums.
Sporadically, orcs come out of their caves and try to annex land. They
are a continued nuisance and you will always have to drive them back.
Don't be too aggressive in that, though. Nothing would be worse than
the orcs declaring war on you. Because then they would not only come
down from the mountains, they would also emerge from ancient tunnels
in the hills. You wouldn't believe what they can do. You are mostly
save from them in towns and woods. For some reason, orcs don't enter
woods. It may have something to do with the elves. And you should also
know that orcs hate it if you put a town right under their noses,
maybe right next to the mountains. If you do that, prepare for a
horrendous war.
Also at home in the mountains are the dwarves. They are small, hardy
guys with long beards and a sturdy build. They support the balance on
Tamar and hate nothing more than the orcs. Dwarves will attack orcs on
sight. They also don't like stranger to pass through their lands or
even annex it. Avoid crossing draw territory when moving your armies,
since dwarf troops are a power to be reckoned with and their attacks
can diminish your forces greatly. All that notwithstanding, dwarves
are actually peaceful people. As long as you don't expand aggressively
they will leave you alone. In they fight against orcs, they can even
be allies, since they keep the mountains free of orcs.
Elves are living in the dark woods. Dark woods are spooky places you
should only send scouts to. Everybody else will surely be attacked.
There are stories of whole armies who died of spider bites in
dark woods. Green dragons may be found there, too. But elves also live
outside the dark woods and they don't like armed forces in woods at
all. If you see elves close by, either avoid the woods with your
troops or prepare for a fight. Other than that, elves are peaceful as
well, and only strive for the balance on Tamar. No Lord should become
too powerful and nobody should annex dark woods. This will lead into a
open war with the elves.
Beside these three "living" races, there are also the undead of Tamar.
They are always lead by an undead king or former sovereign and rise
from the ruins that are found throughout the land. The undead kings
are very dangerous and you should not give them time to spread. Their
strength grows with every passing day, since they and their armies use
a disease as a weapon. All soldiers or town people they kill, they can
rise from the dead to reinforce their troops. The undead are also able
to split and combine their armies at will, which makes the size of
their troops hard to estimate.
Should you see undead in close proximity, stay put and don't recruit
any armies until help from other Lords has arrived. Until then you are
under the godly protection that not even the undead can break.
Finally, let me mention a special race. The dragons.
Dragons can be found in several colors and each color tells something
about their character, their behavior and their allies. Red and black
dragons for example are chaotic evil and will attack humans at every
opportunity. They annex land and destroy everything in their path.
While black dragons are relatively weak, red ones are among the
strongest to be found on Tamar. Black dragons are also sometime called
by the undead and are allied with them. That's why they are sometimes
called undead dragons. Whether they are really undead is unknown to
me. Maybe the undead just appeal to their chaotic nature.
Blue and green dragons on the other hand are neutral and will only
attack you if your are in a war with the dwarves or elves. Blue
dragons are ice dragons and green dragons live in forest, as you can
tell by their color. They are both stronger than the black ones, but
weaker than red dragons.
The last dragon is the biggest and most powerful of all. The good news
is that he is also lawful good! The golden dragon only claims a little
area to live on and doesn't want to be disturbed. It has rarely been
heard of golden dragons attacking towns or armies. But don't think
this dragon isn't dangerous! It considers itself the crown of all
creation and just like you would step on an ant without thinking about
it, he will crush your armies without an evil intent. Maybe he just
doesn't like armies ear him? Who knows?
Well, that was it about the races of Tamar. Our tutorial is
approaching the end quickly now.
See you tomorrow!
